While exploring the Middle Prong Little River in Fremont of the Great Smoky Mountains, I was waiting for my friend Tim Owen to complete a set of shots down stream (didn't want to get in his shots) and I found myself observing these unbelievable rocks that were everywhere along and in the river.
They looked like someone had taken a rake and cut across the top of them creating deep gashes in the rocks. Inside those gashes, green moss had taken hold and rendered these rocks extremely photogenic. While looking downstream from this particular set of rocks, I noticed the elliptical shape they formed and the way the river and overhanging trees hugged around the rock shape forming their own curves.
I took a low perspective to try and elongate the rocks with my wide angle lens and aligned myself so the rock was directly underneath the curved, overhanging tree.
Even the leaves that were floating along in the river made curvy shapes with the long exposure.
I really enjoy finding little gems like this. Especially when I'm not intently looking for them.
Fantastic Jerry! So beautiful!
